Why Dr. Oltman?
The RMSK certification that Dr. Oltman has earned signifies expert-level skill in musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnostics and ultrasound guided procedures. It is awarded by the Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement (APCA) and is a course of study that takes years to master. Only a handful of physicians in the state of Oregon have earned this distinction and is an important mark of Dr. Oltman's dedication to the specialty of interventional orthopedics and regenerative medicine.

Why Ultrasound for Ortho/Sports Med?
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound use is rapidly increasing across the healthcare landscape as technology has allowed for better image production. It is a simple, painless, in-office, zero-radiation technique that allows for a plethora of information and data to be collected within the context of any patient visit.

Ultrasound provides higher quality images then MRI for many common conditions such as:
-
Achilles Tendinopathy
-
Tennis Elbow
-
Plantar Fasciosis
-
Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy
-
Patella Tendinopathy
-
Ankle Sprains
-
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
-
Bursitis
-
And many others...
Ultrasound produces an image in real-time where the area under investigation can be moved and manipulated to gather more data, called "dynamic evaluation". It also does all of this at a fraction of the cost of an MRI.

Why Image-Guided Injections?
Ultrasound Guided Injections are the gold standard for most orthopedic injections. Guidance provides a degree of precision that simply cannot be replicated with "blind injections". There is a big difference in the benefit of a treatment when the injection is placed "in the neighborhood" of the problem versus exactly into the damaged area with visual confirmation. Dr. Oltman is able to deliver the appropriate medicine into the most specific areas possible, delineating between individual tendon, ligament, nerve, and/or fascia fibers.
